Doctor Who's New Season Went From Brilliant To Total Disaster
My new video essay unpacks the highs and lows of Doctor Who's latest season.
Hi friends! This month’s newsletter is going to be a bit different. Instead of writing a feature and tacking on my latest YouTube video at the end, I’m putting my new video essay front and center.
I’ve been working on an absolute whopper of a video about Doctor Who’s latest season, and now it’s finally ready to share! Series 15 (listed as Season 2 on some outlets) stars Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Varada Sethu as his new companion Belinda Chandra.
The season started off extremely promising, with some episodes that now rank among my favorites. However, it didn’t live up to its potential, and the ending broke my heart in a steaming trash fire.
But was this failure solely down to bad writing decisions, or did something happen behind the scenes to screw things up beyond the writers’ control? The truth is, it’s a bit of both.
The video will go public this weekend, but subscribers get to watch the unlisted video on YouTube right now!

This video is a lot of firsts for me as a creator. It’s my longest non-compilation video to date, my first edited in Davinci Resolve instead of iMovie, and my first filmed on my new DJI Osmo Pocket 3 camera instead of my iPhone! (The quality is nice and crisp, but I forgot to turn Exposure Lock on, so the lighting might be a bit inconsistent shhhh.)
I’m already brainstorming ideas for my next video, which will be a book-related one. When it’s ready, as always, you awesome newsletter subscribers be the first to see it!
Love,
Ellie
