2018 is only three days old, and the next 362 days are full of possibilities. And because I hate leaving things to chance, I'm doing my yearly goals post to make sure I put those days to good use (because there's nothing more embarrassing to admit you failed your goals, publicly, on the internet). This is also an opportunity to look back on 2017, and see what I achieved.
At the start of 2017, I said that I wanted to ...
- Get a print version of Super Sporty 9 out (Check!)
- Finish The Dreamon for good (Check! Though it took a lot of Pitch Wars revisions to get it that way ...)
- Start looking into finding a literary agent for The Dreamon (Check!)
- Read more great books (Check!)
- Start working on some new projects (Check!)
And in addition to the things mentioned above, in 2017 I ...
- Started entering pitch contests
Capturedobtained some awesome critique partners- Learned a ton about writing craft
- Got into Pitch Wars -- and survived!
- Saved enough money to buy a new computer and Scrivener
Basically, I achieved way more this year than I was expecting, and I'm so grateful to everyone who helped me get to the position I'm in now.
My most popular post of the year was ...
"Why Pitch Contests Are About Way More Than Just Winning." It was true in 2017, and it's still true now.
And finally, my goals for 2018 are ...
- Finish drafting my current project
- Query, query, query!
- Work out this whole adult thing (oh yeah, I'm turning 18 this year ...)
- Read more great books (always)
Have a fantastic new year, everyone!
