I didn't have a set goal for how many books to read this summer, but I knew I wanted to read a lot. And I recently got a new library card, so getting my mitts on some books was easier than expected. As far as I can work out, I've gotten through around 20 books this summer, which I'm quite pleased with considering that a lot of my time was taken up with moving to Texas, writing Super Sporty 9, and Dreamon revisions.
However, I just did a quick count of how many books I'm currently reading (and which I actually intend to finish). There are four of them.
I'm perfectly aware that there are thousands of bookworms who would think this is pathetic, and I must bow to you superpowered bibliophiles. But this is not usual for me, and as such, I think I shall list the books which are occupying my time now.
1: Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan. Straightforward enough -- the fourth book in the NYT bestselling series about demigods and monsters which I really should have read a long time ago. I'm enjoying it more than the second and third Percy Jackson books (though it's still not as good as The Lightning Thief, in my opinion.)
The reason I haven't finished it yet: it got lost in my swim bag, and I only found it today. Whoops.
2: Snow Bunny (Chronicles of a Wererabbit book two) by M.Y. Zeman. This is a book I'm reading in order to review it. I read the first book in the series this summer, and really enjoyed it. I've only read the first chapter of this one, though, so it's too early to deliver a verdict.
The reason I haven't finished it yet: The book got a little bit slow, and then I received the Percy Jackson box set for my birthday, so ....
I'm definitely going to finish Snow Bunny, just to clarify. It was only postponed in a moment of reader ADHD.
(On a side note, you can read my interview with M.Y. Zeman here.)
3: Destined by Alexandra Moody. I've been waiting for this book for months (it's the conclusion to the ARC series, which I love), and I preordered it ages ago. When it showed up on my Kindle, I started reading immediately.
The reason I haven't finished it yet: I only got it yesterday. Fair dos, right?
4: Thirteen Ways of Looking at the Novel by Jane Smiley. This is a writing craft book which lots of authors recommend. Of course, it's been on my TBR for a while.
The reason I haven't finished it yet: The introduction is very slow. However, I promise I will get through it. Eventually.
So those are the four books I'm reading right now. What about you? Please share your current reading conquests in the comments!
