My (Almost) Screen-Free Month -- New Distractions

Today is Saturday -- my first Screen Day in my screen-free month. I've already checked my Twitter feed, my Instagram, and my email, and now it's time to blog about how I'm getting on.

This last week, I've found out something really surprising -- I didn't really miss the screens all that much. The first screen-free day (Wednesday) was hard; I kept wanting to check my email constantly, just in case I'd been messaged by someone important (I checked today -- I hadn't). But then I found a new distraction:

BOOKS!

Yes, for the past few days, I've had a new reason to procrastinate from my day-to-day chores: making a dent in my ever-increasing To Be Read list. On screen days, my desk was my natural habitat; now it's my couch. I've been through everything from Jane Austen to Gillian Flynn to some social networking author I hadn't heard of until now.
And, of course, there was the writing. I bought two cheap notebooks at the 99p Store -- one for Super Sporty, and one for other miscellaneous writings. Admittedly, I haven't written all that much in the Super Sporty one yet, but I plan to do that in the weeks ahead.

So that's my screen-free month update. And that's the last you'll hear from me until next Saturday. See ya!
